Denner is one of the big Swiss retailers. The public presence is more a retail platform than a website — Nuxt frontend, in the back a system of Pimcore, SAP, Detailnet, a Kafka broker and Kubernetes. Visible to the customer: weekly-rotating deal sections with percent discounts, store locator, recipe area, shopping list, gift cards, a PDF flyer via Issuu, newsletter and WhatsApp alerts, plus the native mobile app. The shop part is heavily customized — wines for direct sale, plus dedicated online offers for products otherwise found in the stores. Not an off-the-shelf shop system.
My responsibility was on the backend and infrastructure side — integration of the various systems, event broker, runtime, everything that fed the frontend. I worked closely with the frontend developers, but the frontend work itself was done by others.
